About us

Delisle Veterinary Service was established in the fall of 2008 by Dr. Lorrie Fraser.
Dr. Fraser graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science degree with a Major in Physical Science and a Minor in Biological Science in 1994. She attended the Western College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated as a Doctor Of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. She lived near Delisle during her time as a veterinary student and started a mixed animal mobile practice immediately after graduation. When her family moved to Alberta, she practiced veterinary medicine in Wetaskiwin and then in Edmonton.  An opportunity to return to Delisle presented when the current location was listed for sale. The initial business operated by the Fraser family was Animal Inn*Spa*Rations and offered boarding, grooming and pet supplies. With lots of support from family and friends, the building was transformed into a veterinary clinic. The practice currently operates as an independent small (companion) animal practice. Dr. Fraser has a keen interest in surgery and the operating room is her favorite place in the practice. Her special interest is in orthopedic surgery, particularly knee surgeries to address rupture anterior cruciate ligaments and luxating patella problems. She offers the TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) procedure as well as the external capsular stabilization procedure often referred to as a "Band" procedure. Fracture repairs and FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) procedures are also done based on case assessments. While Dr. Fraser is not an orthopedic specialist (ie.not Board Certified), she continues to train and update her skills under the guidance of Board Certified surgeons. Soft tissue surgeries include everything from routine spay and neuter procedures to caesarian sections, mass removal, elongated soft palate surgery, stenotic nares, entropion, etc. Wellness examinations, vaccinations, dentistry and care for medical cases are part of the practice, too.
The clinic has well trained friendly staff and is well equipped to handle a wide variety of cases.
